Inside the Mine

In the underground mine, with more than 700 m deep, a space for public visit to the maximum safety assurances, has been recovered.

A fascinating journey through the bowels of the earth in one of the oldest mines in the world.

The accessible area corresponds to the 1st floor of Almadén mine, at about 50 meters deep, the mine with the highest historical value. After visiting exploitation areas of the XVII, XVII centuries (branch drifts, overhead stopes, open pits and bench exploitations) and XX century works, visitors reach the jewel of the visit, the Baritel of San Andrés with its majestic hoist, Sistine Chapel  of mining heritage and the prisoner gallery where the criminals were lead to work at the mine from Jail.

Finally, through San Teodoro well again, we access to an upper mining gallery where a mining train transports the group to the surface.
